Mikara Construction Inc. is committed to making our website usable for as many people as possible, including visitors with disabilities. We want anyone looking for a contractor in Santa Rosa and Sonoma County to be able to find our information and get in touch.

What we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, hearing, cognitive, and motor impairments.

Steps we have taken

  • Descriptive alternative text on every meaningful photograph, so screen readers can convey what each project image shows.
  • Text and background colours checked for contrast against the WCAG AA threshold, including white text over photographic backgrounds.
  • Semantic headings in a logical order, with a single page-level heading.
  • Keyboard-operable navigation and buttons, with visible focus behaviour on interactive elements.
  • Support for the prefers-reduced-motion setting: scrolling marquees and animated indicators stop for visitors who ask their system to reduce motion.
  • Responsive layout that reflows down to small screens without horizontal scrolling.

Known limitations

We want to be straightforward about where the site currently falls short. This site uses animated scrolling effects, and while we honour reduced-motion preferences, some movement remains. We have not yet completed a full independent audit with assistive technology users, so some issues may remain undiscovered.
